Nice work; it looks like you're pretty comfortable working in painter. I use it sometimes, but I'm still learning it. I tend to stick with photoshop.
Here's a tip for the colors: reserve pure white for ultra-bright light sources or specular highlights in bright environments. (Ever notice how the sun is a white spot in a photo?)
Right now, the white part of the (yummy) candy corn is a single value, so it appears flat.
If you color-pick a photo of a "white" object, you'll see that the darker values of the white can be as dark as 50% in daylight, and picks up some saturation from bounced light off of surrounding objects. (check out Xia's other tutorials on the subject--I learned all this stuff from his painting tutorials =)

Thank you for the welcome and the suggestions. (The white was really bothering me... it actually has a gradient but you can't see it so yeah... it's flat.) I'm about to leave and go into town for a few hours. I have another picture I'd like to post and maybe pick your brains about. If that's ok. (I'm very new to blogger so if I put something where I'm not supposed to just yell at me. lol)
