I've been doing some study on an old master Guido Reni. I really got so inspired when I saw some of his paintings that I started a value study (like Xia suggests!). Hope you like it.

Here's a close view of the eyes since I had a problem with last time's portrait post.

This is the process for you guys:

Enjoy!
Nice Jesus painting man, I ESPECIALLY like the improvement on the eyes.

ReplyDeleteI look forward to future posts~~!
What do you mean by value study?
Neovirtu> Thanks mate, I hope to do even better ;)
ReplyDeleteWith value study I mean, to get things right not only in proportion and in scale but also with lighting and rendering. It's a way to study how great artists lighted and used tones on certain areas.
Just a small tip to understand the word value is that: if you have a drawing with good value, you can give it all the different hues you want, it will still look correct. Hope it makes sense! :)
Its very nice and its good looking at the development.
ReplyDeleteI am so confused by value study but hopefully I should learn soon~!
