Process

Process:

  1. find some nice images, take them into Photoshop, lay them on top of each other. Change opacity and eventually the layer's blending mode. Flatten and use auto contrast. (scott robertson, andrew jones, craig mullins & more)
  2. find shapes sampling colors from the image. Sketch it out. Rotated image for a more dynamic composition.
  3. Continue.
  4. Added foreground element and the sheep.
  5. Changed sky. Gradient maps, overlay layers, soft light layers, photo filter, color/value adjstments.
  6. Final touchup. unsharp mask, grain.

wow pokepetter! I seen all of yur landscape scenes and they are terrific, very strong pieces compared to yur characters you painted. What I luv about the landscapes is the loose brush strokes again. Nice range of color palette and the colors are consistent and are complementary to each other. very solid, the shapes read out well and you get a sense of distance and atmosphere. Technical, their good! When you paint characters, the colors get muted and muddied up, I think the use of too much black is doing it. Try using a different darker color as you new "black". My favorite is of the "cowboy" U did and "beauty" the creepy S.O.B. Good job man!

P.S.

You know what will be kick @$$, whenever U paint city landscapes.
